The Academy of Liberal Education (AOLE) was established in 1975 by the visionary Dr. Kurunji Venkataramana Gowda (Dr. KVG), who served as its first President. With the support of a dedicated team, he founded the Academy with the aim of providing quality education to the people of underdeveloped regions, especially Sullia and nearby areas. Dr. KVG firmly believed that education is the most powerful tool for social and economic development. His vision was to make quality education accessible to all, particularly students from rural and underprivileged communities.

From a modest beginning, AOLE has grown into one of the leading educational organizations in Karnataka. Today, it has a strong educational presence across Sullia, Bhagamandala, and Bengaluru, offering education from Kindergarten (LKG) to postgraduate and professional programmes. The institutions under the AOLE umbrella provide education in diverse fields, including CBSE school education, General Education, Law, Engineering, Polytechnic, Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Medical Sciences, Ayurveda, Dental Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Allied Health Sciences, Technical Education, and other professional programmes. AOLE has earned a reputation for academic excellence and currently provides quality education to more than 11,000 students from different parts of India.

Medical education is one of the major strengths of AOLE. Through its institutions offering Allopathic Medicine, Ayurveda, Dentistry, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Sciences, the Academy plays a vital role in developing skilled healthcare professionals. Every year, the campus produces nearly 400 doctors in the fields of Allopathic Medicine (MBBS), Ayurveda (BAMS), and Dental Surgery (BDS). The Academy also offers postgraduate programmes in various medical, dental, and ayurvedic specialties, contributing significantly to healthcare education, research, and patient care while meeting the growing demand for qualified healthcare professionals.

Apart from providing quality education, AOLE has also created substantial employment opportunities and contributed to the social and economic development of the region. The Academy is currently led by Dr. Chidananda K. V. as President, Mrs. Shobha Chidananda as Vice President, Ar. Akshay K. C. as General Secretary, Dr. Aishwarya K. C. and Mr. Hemanath Kurunji as Secretaries, and Dr. Gowtham Gowda A. G. as Treasurer.
