KVG Institute of Allied Health Sciences, Sullia, was established with the vision of expanding quality allied health education and producing competent healthcare professionals capable of meeting the evolving needs of the healthcare sector. The institute functions under the esteemed Academy of Liberal Education (AOLE), founded by the visionary educationist Late Dr. Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda, whose dedication to education and rural development laid the foundation for a vibrant academic ecosystem in the region.
The establishment of the KVG Institute of Allied Health Sciences was spearheaded by Dr. Chidananda K. V., who took significant initiatives to strengthen professional education by creating opportunities for aspiring students in the field of allied health sciences. Recognizing the increasing demand for skilled allied health professionals, the institute was founded to provide high-quality education, promote excellence in patient care, and contribute meaningfully to the healthcare delivery system.
At its inception, Dr. Sathyavathi R Alva, the Founder Principal, played a pivotal role in laying a strong academic and administrative foundation. Under her leadership, the institute adopted a learner-centered approach that emphasized academic excellence, professional ethics, clinical competency, and compassionate patient care.
The institute commenced its academic journey in 2018 with two undergraduate programmes: B.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology and B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology. Building on its commitment to quality healthcare education, the institute expanded in 2019 by introducing B.Sc. Anesthesia Technology, B.Sc. Renal Dialysis Technology, B.Sc. Optometry, and B.Sc. Emergency and Trauma Care Technology, thereby strengthening its contribution to paramedical education.
Continuing its progressive growth, the institute launched B.Sc. Cardiac Care Technology, B.Sc. Respiratory Care Technology, and Bachelor in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (BASLP) in 2022, broadening its academic portfolio to meet emerging healthcare needs.
A major milestone was achieved in 2024 with the introduction of several postgraduate programmes, including M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology Specializations in (Clinical Biochemistry, Microbiology & Immunology, Haematology & Blood transfusion) M.Sc. Clinical Psychology, and M.Sc. Medical Imaging Technology. During the same year, the institute also introduced Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (BOT) and the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) programme, reflecting its commitment to addressing both clinical and public health challenges.
Over the years, KVG Institute of Allied Health Sciences has witnessed remarkable growth in academic programmes, infrastructure, faculty expertise, laboratory facilities, and clinical training resources. Supported by the well-established KVG Medical Campus and its multidisciplinary teaching hospitals, students receive comprehensive academic instruction combined with extensive hands-on clinical exposure.
